If you’re experiencing problems when connecting a storage device such as a hard disk or a USB-drive to your Mac, you can review this checklist for possible solutions:
- First make sure that Microsoft NTFS for Mac by Tuxera is enabled:
- Check to see if your media appears in Tuxera Disk Manager or Apple Disk Utility, and try to mount it manually:
If you get an error, take a screenshot of it for later reference! - If your device does not appear on the list in Disk Manager or Apple's Disk Utility, try attaching it again or try attaching it to another computer to make sure there is nothing wrong with the device itself. If the device works with another computer, try switching ports on your Mac or bypassing hubs and port replicators (if you are using them) to rule them out as the source of the issue.
- Your volume may not successfully mount if it contains errors or inconsistencies. These can result from detaching the device while it is being used or if your computer loses power or crashes, for example. To make sure your volume is in a good state, you can use the 'Check'- and 'Repair'-features in Tuxera Disk Manager:
- If the problem began after you upgraded macOS, or switched to a new Mac, you may need to reinstall Microsoft NTFS for Mac by Tuxera. This is because the version that you've been using may not support the new operating system.
